a better model for
higher ed
At Greenway, we’ve taken a blank-slate approach to create a better model for higher education - one that makes sense for today’s students, and today’s world.
better
student experience
At Greenway, students learn engineering by practicing engineering, starting on day one. During their four years, Greenway students spend two years on campus, and two years embedded in industry, completing a paid work experience while receiving personalized mentorship from faculty.
greenway model
Work is part of the academic core, which results in accelerated learning, better work performance, and academic credit for the learning done in the workplace—all while earning a paycheck. A Greenway education is more effective, more empowering, and more fun, for more students.
Greenway’s finances check out, both for students and for the institution. Greenway invests in teaching and mentoring, not expensive amenities, and is only 50% residential, so that we can provide a high quality education at much lower institutional expense.
better economics
The result is twofold: a self-sustaining business model and a break-even bachelor’s degree. Our responsible financial choices mean that we can balance the budget at a sticker price of less than $25K per year. Combined with $100K of credit-bearing paid work experience, students graduate debt-free and ready for work in four years.
Greenway graduates will enter a world that is changing faster than ever. Technology like AI is reshaping the nature of work and raising the bar for what it means to be ready on day one. We designed Greenway from the ground up around six key capacities that we believe all students need to thrive in work and in life.
better graduates
Greenway students complete their bachelor's degree with two years of real work experience, a professional network, and the judgment to thrive in careers that don't yet exist.
a proven model
The Greenway model isn’t just an idea. It’s been tested and validated with successful prototype semesters funded by the National Science Foundation.
“Justin had the perfect attitude. He always wanted to learn and to see the bigger picture. My question is, ‘When can we get another Greenway student?’”

built to scale
Greenway is building a national network of affordable colleges that work — starting in Vermont and scaling to 10-20 sites, graduating 10,000+ students per year.
phase 1: prove the model works
ends to end
Design, test, implement the Greenway model at the scale of a fully populated, fully functioning undergraduate institution.
phase 2: prove the model
can be replicated
Seed 3-4 additional sites. Enables development and refinement of scaling assets and expertise (e.g., teacher development systems and curricular streamlining).
phase 3: Scale For
National Impact
10-20 sites, reaching approximately 10,000 graduates yearly.
